EARTHCHAT: SONGS of protest SONGS of substance

The role of the protest song, or the work song, or the song that stops your busy life to enable you to reflect for a while, they have all helped shape many of us, and our community values.

Local musician Mark South joins fellow local musician and radio host Peter Lockyer on EarthChat this week to share some of the songs that have substance. These may be songs of our time, angry songs or sometimes melancholy. They are all songs where the lyrics matter. Of course, there are some standout songwriters in this space in Australia.

And we’ll mention a heap of Australian movers and shakers with songs that we don’t have their music to play. Whew, that could be one crowded hour!

Join us for this fun and energetic conversation. EarthChat on 103.9 FM for the first program of 2025, on Tuesday Jan 7th at midday.
