EARTHCHAT: Biolink Corridors for Gliders in Seymour

Updated: Sep 4, 2023

This week on EarthChat Vanessa and Ruth chat about the Biolink Corridors for Gliders in Seymour Landcare project.

Questions will be answered about Gliders:

What do we know about them?

What is the difference between a Sugar Glider and a Squirrel Glider?

What are their needs in order to thrive?

What are Biolinks corridors and where are they located in and around Seymour?

What can we do to help Gliders, like installing nest boxes (private land vs public land)?

What are the opportunities to volunteer for the environment?

What the benefits for the individual and the community?

Preliminary results from the first two spotlight walks will be shared, and how these data have been recorded in the Victorian Atlas of Biodiversity and iNaturalist.

The next steps for the gliders project are: nest boxes inspection; installing nest boxes built by Seymour College VCAL students; and a talk on gliders to wrap up the project.
