Helen Haines' proposal to create an Authority to make it easier for regional communities to own and build their own renewables needs your letter-writing support. Before July 9th.
Make a submission to support the Local Power Plan
Everyday Australians deserve to benefit from renewable energy. The Local Power Plan is a plan to make sure that regional communities benefit from the huge boom in renewable energy that has already started.
In Parliament Helen Haines has been fighting to establish the Australian Local Power Agency (ALPA) which would play a critical in simplifying the roll-out of community renewable energy projects across the country.
The House Standing Committee on the Environment and Energy has launched an inquiry into Helen Haines' bill to establish the Australian Local Power Agency. This committee will make recommendations to Parliament and their recommendations could determine the fate of this bill.
The inquiry has opened submissions for only two weeks, so we need to act quickly to make sure they see just how much community support there is for the Local Power Plan.
Use this online tool to make your submission to the inquiry before Friday 9th July.
If the ALPA bills were legislated, a new $467 million Agency would support regional communities to develop and invest in their own renewable energy projects.
It’s critical that the members of this committee understand the strong community input underpinning the development of this bill, including the gaps that have been addressed and the obstacles that this Bill will overcome.
